Gilbert Anaya Obituary
It is with great sadness and broken hearts we regret to announce the passing of the beloved leader of our family Gilbert S. Anaya. Born December 2, 1948 he was called home to the Lord on January 10, 2021 after fighting a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly A. Anaya, Steven D. Anaya (Son), Robert Coffee Jr. (Grandson), Arthur Anaya Sr. (Father), Carmen Anaya (Mother), Tom Anaya (Brother), Arthur Anaya Jr. (Brother), In-Law's Porfirio Martinez, Marjorie Martinez, Brother's In-Law Rick Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Charles Martinez, Patrick Martinez, Tony Nuanes, and Johnny Apodaca.
He will be loved and remembered forever by his entire family. Children, Kathleen Garcia, partner Kevin Lopez, Meredith Anaya, partner Rick Sandoval, Gilbert Anaya Jr., partner Cheryl Soltero, and Marjorie Anaya. Grandchildren Ashley Chavez, Timothy Chavez, partner Celina Palacios, Vincent Garcia, partner Tamara Casas, Brittany Garcia, partner Rick Mendez, Jeremey Coffee and Kevin Lopez Jr. Great-Grandchildren Anthony, Aiden, Sophia, Timothy Jr., Aria, Anastasia, and Jacqueline. Survived by his brother and sisters Larry Anaya, Barbara Anaya, Priscilla Matthews, and husband Doug, Roni Montoya, and Husband Michael, Sandra Anaya, and wife Lu Ann Martinez, in-laws Gloria Apodaca, Rudy Martinez and wife Gloria, Suzanne Streit and husband Bob, Marianne Baca, Sylvia Nuanes, Michael Martinez, Ron Martinez and wife Dolores.
Gilbert attended Albuquerque High School where he met Beverly and fell in love "with the most Beautiful woman in the world" they cherished each other. He was the heart and Mom was the soul of our family we will miss them both dearly.
We would like to thank everybody that helped with his care and the love and tenderness everyone brought into his life. He enjoyed the visits that brought his spirts up.
Pallbearers include: Timothy Chavez, Vincent Garcia, Jeremy Coffee, Kevin Lopez, Rudy Martinez, and Brett Nuanes. Rosary Services on January 21, 2021: coordinated by Daniels Strong Thorne on 1100 Coal Ave. SE Albuquerque, NM 87106. Family viewing will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Rosary immediately after at 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral will be held on January 22, 2021 at 9:00am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 820 Broadway Blvd. SE Albuquerque, NM 87102.

Thank you for great memories dear brother. The fun times like taking us to watch the planes land and take off at the airport, the drive-in movies and your perfect and delicious popcorn, pizza from Jack’s and for sharing your love of music. I carry these in my heart now and forever! Rest brother, you deserve peace and love. You fought the good fight.... I will miss you
