Harold Jetter Obituary

Jetter, Harold "Jet"

Lt. Col. Harold "Jet" Jetter USAF Ret. a long-time resident of Albuquerque and Payson, AZ, went to be with our Lord taking his last flight into the beautiful western sunset on April 25, 2017.

Jet was born on a farm in Trosky, Minnesota on May 26, 1921. He joined the Army National Guard at age 15 and served in the US Army Air Corp (Air Force) for 26 years. He became a pilot in WWII and served in Korea and the Cold War flying B-24s, B-29s and B-52s. He continued his flying career in Albuquerque (1968 -1984) flying for Ross Aviation, a contractor to the National Labs. He retired and moved to Payson, AZ with his wonderful and adoring wife, Alice, before they moved back to Albuquerque in 2007. Jet enjoyed life immensely and thanked the Lord for his many blessings, saying he never had a bad day. Jet and Alice spent their retirement camping and traveling all over the beautiful United States. He also enjoyed hiking, shuffleboard and making new friends at the senior center and his retirement home.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 60 years, Alice and his oldest son, Mark.

He is survived by four of his children, Lisa (Rick) Leal of Portales, NM, Paul Jetter of Albuquerque, Dawn (Kurt) Mourning of Double Oak, TX, Steven (Valerie) Jetter of Tijeras; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

It was so sad for us to learn Jet has passed on. We so enjoyed knowing Jet, playing Shuffleboard, he was a formidable player, and always smiling and having a good time! Our meals together in Las Cruces were memorable, as well. He will always been remembered, and missed.
Unfortunately, we will be unable to attend services, due to previous engagements.
Please accept our deepest regrets.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I worked with Jet from 1980 until his retirement from Ross Aviation.

I knew him as a gentleman of integrity, humor and helpfulness. He was kind to me and I treasured his advice.

To the family of jet, my name this Jose Martinez.I knew jet when i started working at Ross Aviation back in the 70's. when i met jet i wasn't flt. engineer yet, i was working as a aircraft mechanic at the old Ross hanger on the west side. i think when Ross moved to the base, that when i started flying with the aircraft there.and that's when i met jet there and start flying with him, we hit it very well right a-way and we have been very good friends ever since.did you know that we played shuffleboard for the last two years when we started to monzano mesa center. he would bet me some games and i would beat him back. i will miss him dearly cause he was my best friend i had. so saying that my deepest condolences to all your family i will pray for him so that his journey to the to gods kingdom will be a joyous one. i will not say good bye, but i'll say we will see you there when my time come.
