James Armor Obituary

Armor, James (Jim) Harry Jr.

Jim Armor was a seasoned claims administrator and friend to all those who worked with him. Jim passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2015, in Paris, Texas. Jim worked for the State of New Mexico as a claims administrator for the Risk Management Division from 1997-2004. During that time, Jim handled claims against New Mexico State agencies involving medical malpractice, general liability, civil rights and law enforcement claims. "No question about it, Jim was one of the very best in the business who went out of his way to be fair. He was always prepared to fight a frivolous claim when needed, but to promptly pay a claim that was just and merit," said Jerry A. Walz, an Albuquerque attorney who worked as counsel on many cases that Jim adjusted on behalf of the State.

After leaving state employment, Jim worked for Unitrin in Dallas, TX as a Commercial Claims Examiner from 2004 - 2005. After leaving Unitrin, Jim served as Corporate Claims Manager for Lennox International headquartered in Richardson, Texas from 2005 through July of 2010. He then served as a claims administrator for Tuesday Morning, and at the time of his death was employed as a claims administrator for Texas A&M, at the branch college in Commerce, Texas.

Jim was born August 25, 1945, and for the past few years preceding his death had encountered a number of health problems. In addition to holding adjustor's licenses in several states, Jim also earned an MBA in Management from Amberton University in Dallas, Texas. Friends of Jim Armor will miss him greatly. He deeply cared about people.

Cremation arrangements were handled by the Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1209 Live Oak Street, Commerce, Texas 75428, and a memorial service was held on June 20, 2015, in Paris, Texas.

Jim is survived by his son, Robert Armor, 45, of Klondike, Texas; and daughter, Stephanie Winkler, 47, of Temple, Texas.
