Jimmy Juarez Obituary

Jimmy Juarez

Jimmy Juarez went to be with his Lord and Family on December 14th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Juarez and Italia (Grassi) Juarez; his brothers and sisters - Robert, Lonnie, Maxine, Maybele, Ismael, Israel, and Clarence.

He is survived by his Wife of 67 years Cecilia (a year short of forever), his sons Tomas and Jim (wife Bertha), his daughter Lisa, and Madlyn Juarez. Five grandchildren; Sarah Page (husband Ryan), Sergio

Jimenez (wife Alissa),

Teresa Papanicolaou (husband Costa), Matthew

Juarez, and Adrianna

Jimenez. Three great-grandchildren, Carson, Kate, and Dina. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Family was, first and foremost, the most important aspect of his life, whether it was always taking an extra job to provide for his family, opening up his home to countless nephews and nieces to stay the summer, or to help any other family members in any way that he could.

Born December 28, 1933 and raised in Artesia, NM, where he met and instantly fell in love with his wife, when he first saw her, they then moved to Albuquerque, NM, on an athletic scholarship at the University of New Mexico, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education and his Master's Degree in Administration. He spent 39 years with Albuquerque Public Schools. He was dedicated to his players, students, and staff with whom he shared that part of his life as a Coach, Teacher, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal and Principal. The rippling effect of his guidance, most particularly with those of his players who consider him a father figure and still to this day, call him Coach - they are as much a part of his family as any.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022. The Rosary at 10:00AM and Mass will follow at 10:30 AM at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette Catholic Church located at 11509 Indian School Road N.E. Albuquerque, New Mexico 87112. The Burial will take place at 12:30 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109.

I appreciated Jimmy's excellent support in my work as a counselor at Manzano High School. He had a heart for students and his staff. I would like to get in contact with Cecilia. Marie Cain

Coach Jimmy Juarez was the best ever man, coach and friend. Squatty is what we called him amongst ourselves. He sent me to a FCA Conference in Estes Park , Colorado where a NFL player, Prentice Gott, changed my life forever. Jimmy was my coach at West Mesa and my daughters Principal at Manzano.
We played basketball everyday at West Mesa, he had a fake lay up that you could not defend against.
Heaven will receive a Great Man, I will never forget him!

God Bless Coach Juarez. Very influential In my life. A man amongst young men aspiring to be exemplary student athletes. Coach lead by example, except in wind sprints. Ron Rutherford `69

Coach Juarez was my football coach at Wilson Jr. High. In 1959 we won and were city champs. I went on to teach and coach in high school in Grants and Fort Collins, Colorado. He was my number one role model

My first year of teaching was at Wilson Junior High. He allowed me to assist in coaching football and track. I enjoyed playing golf with him on the weekends.
I have fond memories of Jimmy.
