Joe Alford Obituary

Joe Michael Alford

Joe Michael

Alford died peacefully on 19 July 2023, while under care at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM. He was 71 years old. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Bruce and Jessie Alford of Hamlin, WV, and brother James Vernon Alford, I. Joe is survived by his ex-wife Patricia Marie Alford, son Thomas Michael Alford, granddaughter Aaliyah Alford, grandson Thomas Eli Alford, his brothers Clayton Bruce Alford, Kennith Lee Alford, and sisters Doris Jean Parsons, Phyllis Handley, and Sherry Darlene Neil, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe loved his dogs and was an avid hunter. He took great pride in training his dogs for hunting and was proud of their accomplishments. He hunted elk, deer, javelina, ibex, oryx, turkey, grouse, quail, pheasant, and duck. If there was a season for it, Joe hunted it! After graduating from Hamlin High School in 1970, Joe got a degree in electronics at United Electronics Institute and then went to work at the General Electric plant in Albuquerque, NM as a machine maintenance man. He retired in 2010 when the plant shut down operations in Albuquerque. He enjoyed his job and dedicated his life to his work. Joe had a cabin in Deer Lake Estates near Cuba, NM. He was a good neighbor and everyone stopped by to say hi, pet his dog, and have a beer with him. He was always willing to help his neighbors with advice and assistance. Joe Michael Alford had a smile for everyone and he will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Joe didn't want a memorial but he did ask that his ashes be spread in Windy Canyon. Please get in touch with Merrilou Long at
