Johnny Jimenez Obituary

Jimenez, Johnny "JJ"

Johnny "JJ" Jimenez passed this life on 6/2/2017, after a courageous battle on many fronts.

He lived life fully when he had this health. But, he struggled against overwhelming health difficulties to be a fully-alive person. His struggle encouraged many.

JJ was born to Juan and Maria Jimenez in their home in Santa Fe. He moved to Albuquerque at the age of 15, where he met and went to work for David Cooper. This began his retailing career. JJ managed many Zales Jewelry stores in numerous states. He rose to become the Vice President of the Western Division supervising over 50 stores in 5 states. As a diamond, this is where he sparkled and shined. JJ spent 60 years in the jewelry industry. The last 25 years, as the owner of Noble House Fine Jewelry with his wife, Mary.

JJ was a proud member of the Albuquerque Del Norte Rotary, Masonic Lodge and the Ballut Abyad Shrine. He always wanted to give more to his community than his health allowed.

JJ received a gift of life on June 21, 2002 when he was the recipient of a lung transplant. He and Mary, along with their children were fortunate to meet his donor family to whom they are forever grateful.

JJ is survived by his wife, Mary, children Arvilla (Robert) Arteaga, Andrew Jimenez and Chrystene (Kevin) Favaloro. Also, his treasured grandchildren, Caitlyn, Cassidy, Mikayla and Rogan. JJ is also survived by his sisters, Irene (Silviano) Rael, Angela (John) Costello and brother Gilbert (Nole) Jimenez. His sister, Dolores (Rudy) Vigil prededeased him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am Thurs., June 8, 2017 at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE, Alb.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Mexico Transplant Program, Del Norte Rotary or Ballut Abyad.

Heartfelt condolences to all the family. Johnny taught me how to ride a bicycle nearly 65 years ago when Irene was our "babysitter" and just dating Silver. Wonderful memories! God bless!

Mary,
My deepest condolences for the passing of JJ. We were in east Texas when I heard the news and so couldn't attend the funeral.

You and JJ have always been nice and friendly to me at Noble House. I'll miss seeing him in his chair, with his loop!

May his soul rest in eternal peace: he fought the good fight. And may peace be with you, Mary

Uncle Jj was a treasure. He opened his heart and arms to me. I didn't know him as long as most, but I was allowed into his circle. You both were a dream marriage and loved like no others. I am always here for you. I love you and will miss him dearly.
