Kathryn Moore Obituary

Kathryn Moore

With a heavy but grateful heart, we regret to announce that our dear Kathryn Ann Moore passed away on October 31, 2025, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by family and departed this world on her terms. Kay or "Kathern" as her husband Harry called her, lived a long and loving life with many chapters.

Born in June 1933 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kay and her devoted big sister, Mary Sue, were raised primarily by their mother Marion. After high school she attended the University of Oklahoma and married her sweetheart, Edwin Leslie (Les) Trice Jr. Following his service in the Navy and time in Norfolk, VA they headed back west as Les embarked on life as a geologist working in the oil industry. They lived in many places throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. On that journey, they had two children - Marianne in 1955 and Edwin Leslie III (Jack) in 1958. Their last stop in Midland, TX ended with Les's premature death from cancer in 1967.

The next chapter developed as Kay and her two kids moved to Los Alamos, NM to be closer to her sister and mother. All three began a new life in the mountains of northern New Mexico, where Kay would live for over 30 years. There she met Harold T Moore through her sister's theater work, and together with his young son Michael they joined two families together when they married in 1969. The family grew once more in 1973 when Kay and Harry welcomed a 4th child, Thomas Christopher.

Kay went into the retail business and purchased Gifts World Imports which she ran until it closed in 1998. In 2000, Kay and Harry retired to their patio home in Albuquerque, NM where they both lived until their own passing. Harry passed away in 2012.

Through each chapter, Kay nurtured friendships in the community and in her church and was active in many endeavors which she pursued passionately, including time spent with Kairos prison ministries and several trips to Mississippi helping with Habitat for Humanity. Kay was a longtime volunteer in her local community as well, cooking meals and helping those at Saint Elizabeth Shelter in Santa Fe, or the Store House in Albuquerque or local animal shelters. An avid traveler, she and Harry had many memorable adventures, including an African safari and trips to Europe, as well as cruises and trips to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Alaska and Hawaii. Her children are forever grateful for the love she demonstrated and care and concern she showed to all she knew.

Kay is survived by her 4 children, 5 grandchildren ,3 great-grandchildren and other family and friends. Her children are grateful for the excellent care Kay received from Hospice De La Luz and the staff at Carefree Living in Albuquerque. Kay will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with Harry following a private service.

Kay was a excellent neighbor, always kind and thoughtful. I'll especially remember her relationship with my dog Coco. Coco adored Kay and we all know what good judges of character dogs are! My deepest sympathies to her family. May your wonderful memories of Kay help you through this difficult time. Vicki Bruch

I am grateful to have known Kay, as "mothers-in-law" from the family times we shared together with Tom and Kara Moore. Over the years her many loving notes, calls, and gifts of love came to me . Her love of family, care for all people, and dear animals she considered family, is now the legacy she leaves. Sending my love and comfort to family as they gather in her honor and memory, Jane Sidwell
