Larry Barham Obituary

Barham, Larry D.

When Death came for Larry D. Barham on October 13, he told Him that He was going to have to wait, because he still had stories to tell. He spoke of his childhood in OKC, growing up with his three brothers and sister. He proudly remembered his service in the 623rd Air Control & Warning Squadron, 4th Detachment at Okino AS in Japan. He remembered good times drag racing in California in the late 60s, and the cars he'd loved over the years, especially his 1983 VW GTI. He fondly told of his career as an Air Traffic Controller at the ZAB ARTCC, which ensured he never had to grow up. He was also proud of the students that he instructed at the FAA Training Academy in later years.

He looked forward to joining the love of his life, his wife Kathleen, who preceded him in the final journey in 2010. He shared the music that had meant so much to him, particularly Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues, which he would encourage all of you to really listen to and realize the beauty of one single day in this life.

Finally, when he was good and ready on October 22, 2016, Larry beckoned the shadow that had been waiting so patiently in the corner and left this life just as he had lived it, on his own terms and in the arms of his beloved Ragnar.

A good man, good Controller. He always had a smile and the time to be nice to everyone.

So sad to read this. You and Cathy were married on our lawn. We shared many parties, laughs and songs.
Rest in peace my brother.
