Lynn Leonard Michael Ortiz



Ortiz, Lynn Leonard Michael, age 79, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024.

He was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School in Beaver Dam, WI and received his BA in Music Instruction from University of Wisconsin, Whitewater in 1966. He was a well-loved high-school teacher of choral music for many years at Delavan-darien High School, Whitefish Bay High School, and Wilmot High School. All in Wisconsin.

He used his powerful tenor voice and theatrical flair singing opera as an apprentice artist with the Chicago Lyric Opera, appearing on-stage with such luminaries as Luciano Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland. He spent a summer singing opera high in the Rocky Mountains at central City Opera, west of Denver. He was a member of the opera chorus of the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, WI and even had a comprimario role with the Florentine as Prince Yamadori in Madame Butterfly. He enjoyed canoeing, hiking, and camping throughout the United States, but especially in Wisconsin, California and New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his adoptive parent; Leonard and Ella Ortiz. He is survived by his loving partner of 35 years and husband of 9 years, Carl R. Noennig and their adorable dog Oakley along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Belle's Urban Deli in Corrales. Carl would like to express his gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by Presbyterian Home Hospice, by visiting Angels and by the physical therapist, Lainie Garcia of Onward Physical Therapy at Home.
