Manjeet Kaur Tangri



Manjeet Kaur Tangri, resident of Albuquerque, NM, known to her colleagues as an activist, architect, and urban planner; to her friends and family, as a principled, bold, and beautiful person full of verve and life. She left our world on Friday July 23, 2021. It rained as she was journeying to the unknown, and a full moon brightly lit her route.

Manjeet leaves behind all those who were her co-travelers in life who are deeply inspired by her adventurous spirit, commitment to the environment, social ethics, and tireless service to humanity. Her determination was memorable and her idealism contagious. She is fondly remembered by her siblings, nephews, and nieces on whom she showered her love, and who she inspired with examples of leading a graceful, joyful, and creative life.

Manjeet worked with the Albuquerque Planning Department as an Urban Designer from 1990 to 2008. With her unwavering persistence, inspiration, and hard work, she accomplished many successful public space projects, most notably

the Interstate

Corridor

Enhancement Plan.

She was instrumental

in founding the Sikh

Gurdwara in Albuquerque in 2005 and had been serving as its President since 2017. In addition, she will be remembered for the steadfast support of several foundations including the Endorphin Power Company, Bhai Jaita Foundation and Osler Symposia. Citizens of Albuquerque will remain thankful to Manjeet for the Forest of Bliss â€" a project to plant 550 trees across the city, in honor of the 550th birth anniversary of the founder of the Sikh faith, Guru Nanak, who was the most important guiding light in Manjeet's life.
