Marjorie Lalicker Obituary

Marjorie Adele Lalicker

Marjorie Lalicker, 91, passed peacefully at home on 8/24/24 with family by her side. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, she is survived by her daughters Terry Haley and husband Mark, Gigi Chinisci and husband Frank, and Lisa Cook and husband Chris of Diablo, CA, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Lillian Martin, brothers Dan Martin and Gerald Martin, sister Evelyn Hooper, infant daughter Robin, and her loving husband and best friend Robert G. Lalicker.

Margie was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico. She was employed by Sandia National Laboratories, took time off to raise her family, and then finished her career as the Coordinator of Continuing Medical Education for UNM.

She was an ardent golfer. She and Bob played many golf courses around the country and around the world, combining their love of golf and travel. She was proud to have been president of Hilltop Women's Golf, New Mexico State Women's Golf, NM Senior Women's Golf, as well as the Tijeras Arroyo, Arroyo del Oso, and Los Altos Women's Golf Associations.

She had been a member of the Assistance League of Albuquerque and served on the vestry and altar guild at the Cathedral Church of St. John. She loved to work on Sudoku, crossword puzzles, read, and knit. In fact, she lovingly knit hundreds of baby blankets and donated them to local hospitals.

The family wants to thank the wonderful care she received from her PCP Dr. Molleck, Dr. de Pirro from Presbyterian Hospital at Home, and her hospice nurse Shannyn.

Please do not grieve. Margie had a wonderful life and believed in an even better one to come. A celebration of life will be held at FRENCH-Wyoming on 11/2/24 at 10:00am. A private interment will be held on a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Casa Angelica at 5629 Isleta Blvd. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105 or to the charity of your choice.

My great memory is the Lalicker Family( with their 3 girls) would invite the Henry family(with their 5 boys), for dinner when they lived on Zimmerman. The Henry´s would walk down Zimmerman but they would have to fight the mean dog next door, Cinnamon, who belonged to the Thayers, to get there! We ate out on the back porch and had a good time! The Lalickers and the Henry´s had a great friendship over many years! I am smiling and laughing as I share this!

I will truly miss this beautiful lady. When I first started to play golf at ADO she was one of the first people to encourage and welcome me. She was always there to give me tips or advice and always greated me with her beautiful smile. My love and prayers to you Gigi and your family. XOXO Bev Murtha

It's been about 55 or 60 years since I was playing with Gigi at the Lalicker house, but I always remember how welcoming her mom was. I'm sorry for your loss; she was a great person.
