Patricia Hesse Obituary

Hesse, Patricia Louise

Patricia Louise Hesse peacefully and quietly left this world we know on Jan. 5, 2016. She was 80 years old.

Pat was born and raised in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area, the daughter of Charles and Virginia McGrath. In her early 20s, she married Donald Fickers and that union produced a daughter, Theresa Lynn (Terri). When that marriage ended, she set out on her own to New York City, and then she later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas to be with her mother. In Ft Worth she met a young Air Force officer, Henry David Hesse (Dave). They were married soon thereafter, and then her second daughter, Robin Lee, was born. Dave's military career took them to Little Rock, Ark. and then to Istanbul, Turkey. From there they came to Albuquerque for the rest of Dave's military time, and they decided to stay.

Pat was a wonderful cook and loved to be a hostess for family get-togethers. She distinguished herself as a fine bowler, easily recognizable by her high backswing and powerful delivery. Pat was a determined fisher-person, with more patience than the average. She was often seen in local fishing venues on her handicap scooter catching fish when others weren't. Pat was particularly impressive as an on-stage performer with Albuquerque Civic Light Opera, Musical Theatre Southwest, Albuquerque Little Theatre, and other venues. Her raspy speaking voice and deep singing voice were the choice of a number of directors.

Pat fought a brave fight against various physical challenges, beginning at about age 20 with a disease later diagnosed as fibromyalgia. As a result of heavy smoking for 60 years, she suffered from severe lung damage, which ultimately led to her demise.

Pat will be sorely missed by those who survive her, including her husband of 51 years, Dave; her daughters Terri Wickham (Hank) and Robin McClannahan (Rory); her wonderful grandsons Beckett and Connor McClannahan; and a large extended family; and she expects to be greeted upon her arrival on the other side by her large group of loving pets.

No public services are planned. According to Pat's wishes she will be cremated. Pat would have preferred that, in lieu of flowers, donations might be given to organizations that help children and organizations that help animals. A private celebration of her life by family and close friends is anticipated.

Pat was mostly Irish, and loved Irish traditions, especially poems like this:

May the road rise up

to meet you

May the wind always

be at your back

May the sun shine warm

upon your face

And rains fall softly

on your fields

And until we meet again

May God hold you in the

palm of His hand.
