Richard Branda Obituary

Richard Dominick Branda

Richard Dominick Branda of Albuquerque passed away on September 21, 2018 at the age of 81 after a long illness. Richard was born in Jersey City, NJ to Margaret Polson Branda and

Dominick Rubino Branda. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia, and children Rick (Carla), Debra (Frank Accardi), Christine Martinez, Margaret (Jorge Santos) and Julie Branda, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and their spouses, whom he considered true siblings as he was an only child and he embraced the large extended family, with many nieces and nephews. Also his cousins, Denise Williams and family of Michigan, and the Winklemans family of Belgium, and his helper, Ubaldo Coss. He felt blessed to have many long time friends with whom he shared many happy times, whether cutting Christmas trees, fishing in Colorado, attending plays, reminiscing about the 'old days', or discussing politics.

Richard loved the diversity and beauty of the North Valley, where he settled in 1945 when his father was stationed at Sandia Base. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, and in his younger years he liked to bowl, square dance, and pull water skiers. Later he liked to travel, take car trips, lunch with his buddy, Harry, and play dominoes and cards with grandkids.

Richard was the owner/operator of Suburban Recreational Vehicles until 2008 when he closed the successful business of 50 years. He could fix just about anything, and though his body was giving out, his mind was sharp as a tack until his last breath. He is already missed.

Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held.

Rick- Sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed your Dad and Grandpa too. It's been years since I last saw your Dad. He built a special hitch for me. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
