Richard "Rick" Baird Walker

Richard "Rick" Baird Walker passed peacefully from this world on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by family and loved ones. Rick was born on December 12, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, where he grew up. After graduating from Morgan Park High School, he attended the University of Illinois.

Rick entered the US Army and served in Viet Nam. When he returned, he completed his Business Degree, followed by his Law Degree, both from the University of New Mexico. Rick had a successful law practice for over 45 years in Albuquerque, focusing on real estate, construction, and contract law.

Rick was a huge sports fan; particularly the UNM Lobos. Following the Lobo football and basketball teams. He loved the tailgate parties and tournaments in Las Vegas. He always kept his allegiance to the Chicago Bears cheering them on at any chance.

Foremost, Rick cared for his family and friends. He raised 3 wonderful children, helped care for and advise his many siblings, newphews, nieces, friends, and especially his mom. He also rescued many dogs over the years.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents Don & Enid Walker, brothers Johnny and Bill, Bill's wife Sue; and his nephew Dustin. He is survived by his loving wife Christine, daughters Robin and Dagmar, and son William; by his sisters Donna (Fred) and Barby (Clay); and by his nephews and nieces Chris, Lance, Cody, Lyndsay, Brian, Tara, and Grant.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, beginning at 10:00AM at the Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho, NM. A military burial service will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:00AM, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the Walker family asks that you send donations to the Southwest Animal Rescue Fund (swanimalrescuefund.org) or to your Local shelter or animal rescue in his name.

Barb .. although I didn't know Rick, I do know you, Clay, and Grant. That alone tells me what a wonderful person Rick was! I am so very sorry for this huge loss and I send prayers for you and your family. God bless.
