Robert Hole Obituary
Hole, Robert David
It is with heartache and gladness to announce that Robert (Bob) David Hole went to, once again, be with his wife, our mother, Opal Elaine Hole. He died at home on June 7th, 2015 at the age of 83.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Mildred Hole, his wife Opal Elaine Hole, and his son Randall Dean Staggs.
He is survived by sister Barbara Corcoran and husband Pat; his daughters Tami Duncan and husband Buck, Lisa Marrs; and his daughter-in-law Lucy Staggs; along with his eight grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his close friends and caring neighbors - We thank you so much for looking after him so closely, especially these past three years!
Bob was born on February 20th, 1932 in Lafayette, Indiana and moved to Albuquerque in the early 1950's. He was a Navy Veteran and was awarded a 1 Star Korean Service Ribbon and a United Nations Medal. He then went on to work for Sandia Nat'l Laboratories and retired after 35 years.
In his younger days he was an avid roller-skate dancer, often frequenting Rainbow Roller Drome, where he later taught his children how to roller-skate. He also enjoyed snow skiing and became an outstanding water skier. He was well known for jump-starting from the shore on his slalom ski, shooting rooster tails all over, and then returning to the shore with only his feet being wet! Many a weekend was spent at Elephant Butte and El Vado lakes with his wife, kids, family, and friends. He also enjoyed camping in the Conejos Mountains, oftentimes with his close friends and neighbors, Tom and Lillian Brown... and of course, his family. When not camping or boating, our dad loved bowling at Lomas Bowl, gardening and preening his yards at home, and often loved dancing with his wife doing the jitterbug to a good ol' country western song. The past nearly three years were mainly spent missing his best friend and wife, Opal, after she passed away in July, 2012, visiting with friends and acquaintances at nearby restaurants and Friday night dinners at the American Legion Post 49.
We take comfort knowing that Bob and Opal are together again and having a belated 50th Wedding Anniversary that would have been celebrated this past May. He couldn't have received a better Father's Day present! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD! We love you and will forever miss you!
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107 on Wednesday, June 24th, 2015 at 11:00 am. Bob's ashes will be scattered in the Rose Garden immediately after.
