Goodbye until we meet again,
You will be with me and the memory of you will always be we with as it never faded. I look at you as an older brother. I remember the times at Park, URI, UNM, and....... When you moved to GA. and me to Florida things got strained and as is between brothers things became strained and detached. I am curious about what happened in the years missed or if you have curiosity about the years that we were together. Please email me.
Condolences to all and we are better off having known him.

Ron reached out to me early in my career, as I expect he did with many, to get me involved with the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, where he was editor. Being involved in JEEM helped me, and those others, make connections that helped our advancement. I'm very sorry for his loss. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

I met Ron soon after completing my PhD and he was instrumental in helping me launch my academic career. He treated as one of his own students. Always called me "hoss"; perhaps he forgot my name. :-) Always drank my wine when I did not drink as much as him. ;-)) A free spirit and a great person. Thank you for your mentorship Ron!

Ron was my Grandfathers step-son. A grandfather who, I carry his name but died the year I was born.
As we all lead separate lives, Ron and my father lost contact for over 50 years. But years later, Ron located and met with my father. Ron wanted my father to know how much my grandfather meant to Ron. How much kindness Ron was shown, as a boy, by my grandfather.
Years later, Ron and I met and he went into great detail of how kind my Grandfather was to him. Ron always wished he could have told my grandfather directly. It helped me understand the man I am named after and it was a joy knowing Ron and seeing his great character.

I hope you (family) received my earlier memory and condolences as sent. As one of his work study student of his during the early 1980’s I became very close to him. He was one of the most intelligent people I ever knew and I benefited from him greatly, thus crediting him with shaping me and becoming successful in my career life. His hard working ways compassion towards his work, and love of life & humor will always be in my memories of Ron. I look forward to seeing him in Heaven when our Lord calls me.

I worked for Ron Cummings in the early 1980’s as a work study student while attending UNM. Not only was he one of the most intelligent professors I came to know, he was a hardworking person while enjoying life with compassion and lots of humor. I felt he was a great mentor for and give him a lot of credit for my successes in my life.
I am very saddened to hear of his passing and heart fully extend my condolences to all of his family. He is definitely part of my life, and I look forward to seeing him in Heaven someday so that we can continue our economics’ conversations where we left off.
