Ross Sutter Obituary

Ross Sutter

Ross was born in Dearborn, Michigan and came to New Mexico when he served in the Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1979 with a Bachelor of University Studies and worked for the University of New Mexico for 40 years. He died after a long battle with Parkinson's on February 14, 2025.

Ross loved to sing and performed major roles with Albuquerque Civic Light Opera Association and Albuquerque Opera Theater and was a soloist at several Albuquerque churches. He played in the drum and bugle corps in high school and served in many different capacities with Surgite, a sacred dance company. He created the database, performed, used his computer skills to create brochures and fliers and was always willing to be a guinea pig for new ideas.

Ross is survived by his wife of 49 years, Keri; his brother, Marvin Fineman; his sister, Paula Mahoney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leona Mae Marvin Torres and Neil Sutter; brothers, Wesley and Paul; and his sister, Merry Lou.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Cross of Hope Lutheran Church, 6104 Taylor Ranch Rd. NW, Albuquerque.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Surgite, a sacred dance company, 4300 Silver SE, Suite H, Albuquerque, NM 87108. www.surgite.org. Please visit our online guestbook for Ross at
