Sally Barillas Obituary

Sally Barillas

Sally Barillas, who was born on September 9, 1921 to Leopoldo and Maria Chavez in Cubero, NM, passed away on November 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlos Barillas; sisters, Libby Griego, Erlinda Lucero, and Flora Chavez; and brothers, Arthur Chavez and Fred Chavez. She is survived by one brother, Benny Chavez; and many nieces and nephews.

When Sally was 20 years old, she moved from Albuquerque to Los Angeles to obtain a job in an aircraft factory, building airplanes for the World War Two effort. After the war ended, she was hired to work as a supervisor in a garment factory. After living over 60 years in Los Angeles, she returned to Albuquerque to be close to family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl. NE.
