Shirley Metzler, 91, beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on November 17, 2016.

Shirley was proceded in death by her daughter Helen, parents Ray and Helen Bartlett longtime residents of Artesia, NM, her brother Bill Bartlett and her sister Fifi Gilchrist.

She is survived by her children Charlotte Metzler, John Metzler and wife Joni, Caroline Metzler, Jerry Metzler, Anne Schaub and husband Ed, Tom Metzler, Katy Metzler, Jim Metzler and wife Terri, Ross Metzler and wife Brandy. Her grandchildren include Kathleen Weyrick Bernal, Phillip Weyrick, Frank Weyrick, Nina Metzler Puhipau, Kit Metzler, Katy Ann Metzler, Edward Schaub Jr., Tanner Schaub, Clay Schaub, Chloe Blais, Benjamin Blais, Amber Metzler. Her great grandchildren are Ian, Bryce, Kate, Sean, Kyle, Kalani, Kahekili, Makana, Andrew, Ka'ulu, Ka'eo, Madeline, Garrett, Noah, Patrick, Cecilia, and Addison. Shirley had many interests some of which were caring for and spending time with her family, music, and nursing.

She was a very accomplished musician and competed in many fiddling contests. Shirley enjoyed being with her family and socializing with her wonderful friends. A highlight for all were her holiday gatherings and greatly anticipated poker games.

Services will take place at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, located at 811 Guaymas Pl NE, Albuquerque, NM, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, beginning with recitation of the Rosary 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice or the New Mexico Chapter /Alzheimer's Association
