Sissy Kelly Obituary
1924-2024
Sissy Kelly (Mary B. Kelly) had a true love in her husband Jake (John G. Kelly) who held her to the end. She passed away in his arms Sunday morning, August 25th, 2024, at the age of 82. They met in college, went on a hike in the mountains above Boulder and were immediately each other's forever after. Together, they truly lived an amazing life. Adventures in Kenya; Antarctica, Mongolia, Peru, Australia, India, China, most of Europe, and more...base camp at Everest; hiked 500 miles over the Colorado Trail in their 60s to raise money for charity; climbed over twenty-four 14k peaks. They skied bump runs until almost 80.
Sissy Kelly was a tennis icon...she was chairman of player development for the USTA; President of the SWTA; owned and ran the largest tennis facility in her state; coach and founder wheel-chair tennis; coach Wightman Cup; New Mexico tennis hall of fame...as well as many other accolades. She was a competitive giant slalom skier.
As a mother she was supportive of her children's dreams; she loved animals, had a quick wit, deep empathy for others, and provided an inspiring model for life.
Remembrance will be held in the Pavilion at El Pinto Restaurant in Albuquerque, 3-6pm, October 19th, 2024.
Celebration at Highpoint Sports and Wellness, 12:30pm, October 20th, 2024.
Survived by her devoted husband, Jake Kelly, and children, Trek & Shiloh Kelly.
Sissy was always happiest helping others.
