Stephen Gregg Obituary

Stephen Lampkin Gregg

Dr. Stephen

Gregg October 3, 1938 â€" August 7, 2020. Stephen

Gregg, a respected physician, writer, and beloved father of 5, died August 7th at his residence in Los Angeles, California. Stephen grew up in Los Angeles, California, with his two brothers Tom and Phillip, and spent time as a teen working in his father's gas station, going to the beach, and riding the motorcycle his mother didn't want him to buy. He attended Stanford University, graduating in three years, and was subsequently accepted into the Stanford School of Medicine. After graduation from medical school, he and his wife Marilyn moved to Baltimore where he began a residency at Johns' Hopkins University before being drafted and spending three years in the army in Germany. After Germany, Marilyn and Stephen settled with their five children Stephen, Joseph, Jessica, Lisa, and Laura in New Mexico, where he completed his medical training at the University of New Mexico and where they could ski, enjoy the good weather, and build deep roots in the community. In New Mexico, Stephen also developed an unwavering devotion to Dallas Cowboys football and he spent many happy Monday nights watching them play. Later in his life he married Nancy Nunnally, who brought him a great deal of comfort. He spent his last years in California, near his beloved eldest son and the sights and sounds of the ocean, and he died peacefully in his sleep.

He is survived by his brother, his five children, his 12 grandchildren, his nieces and many friends and family who loved him very much.

We shared the same Great Grandfather and I would like to post Stephen Lampkin Gregg's stone to his mother site and to his grandfather and Great Grandfather's site. I have found his brother's stone and posted it and am wondering about the youngest brother, Philip. Any assistance will be appreciated to help carry on their family genealogy.

My condolences to the entire Gregg family. Of all his children, I knew his son, Stephen, the best as we graduated in the high schhol class of 1981 from The Albuquerque Academy. I never met Dr. Gregg but know of him through his son with whom I haven’t been in contact for many years now, unfortunately. He must have been an incredible man just by knowing the exceptional character and success of his oldest son. My heartfelt prayers go out to his entirely family.

Dr. Stephen L. Gregg was my boss from 1990 to 2008. He was a good boss. After he retired, I worked for another doctor for a short time. That was when I really appreciated what a good boss he was. We teased each other about our political differences and and our different football teams. He loved his family and he bragged about his children and grandchildren. He was a good man and a great doctor.

Condolences to Jessica and Laura and Dr. Gregg’s family. What a wonderful life he had, and he departed in a way that can only be described as wonderful. And I know his physician daughters, Jessica and Laura, are the very best result of this physician’s life. Congratulations, Sir.

For more than 12 years up to his retirement Dr. Gregg was my primary physician. His thoughtful care, sense of humor, admirable intelligence, knowledge and compassion enhanced my life and health significantly. During office visits it was apparent that Dr. Gregg was not simply treating a patient, he was respectfully treating me as a person he knew. That made all the difference. God speed, Dr. Gregg. May the road rise up to meet you . . .
