Steven Benoit Obituary
Steven Benoit, 68, passed on August 15, 2018, at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque following a short illness. Steven was born in Lafayette, LA, on May 27, 1950. He relocated to Madrid, NM, in the late 1960's, where he was instrumental in the town's restoration. He later moved to Albuquerque, where he became a successful real estate broker. He is survived by his son Jesse (Rosalind) and grandson Raglan, sister Sheila (Don) Knight, Marian Berg (mother of Jesse), and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Rene Paul Benoit, Jr., mother Marie Arlene Braeux Benoit, sister Eleda, and brothers David Lucero and Chance Crespin.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 30th at 10:00 AM at the Aquinas Newman Center at 1815 Las Lomas Road NE, Albuquerque, NM. A Rosary will precede the mass at 9:30 AM, and a potluck celebration of Steven's life will follow.

Was a close and devoted friend to both Steve Benoit and David Lucero. They were both incredible and dynamic life-filled people. Taught me a great deal. Saved my life. First met them in Denver, and then traveled with them to San Francisco, where we were always together, and lived together, on Gough Street and also Divisidero Street. When they left for Madrid, NM, I stayed in SF, and lost contact. Have been searching for years, to no avail. I knew them both, in every detail. Both were soulmates to me. I just discovered their passing, through an online search. I am crushed. Since I do not have any photos of them, I am posting a picture of me with my Sheepdog Max at the Golden Gate Bridge (taken at the time of our friendship), in case any of their friends might recognize me. I have one memory where we were driving down Market Street one velvet evening in my 1970 VW Fastback, and this song came on: "I'm Not In Love" by 10 cc. We were all stunned!

I was saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was a close friend to my late brother, George Rombold, and for many years was the archivist for The Littlest Angels ministry of Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque. May he forever Rest In Paradise.
