Timothy Sheehan Obituary

Timothy Michael Sheehan

Timothy Michael Sheehan passed away on January 6, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Salt Lake City, the Sheehan family has called Albuquerque home for the past 71 years.

Tim was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Highland High School, and received his B.A. from the University of New Mexico in 1971. Tim received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1973, and from that time began Tim's passionate support of both the UNM Lobos and the Michigan Wolverines.

Tim passed the New Mexico Bar Exam in 1974, and joined the firm founded by his father, Pat Sheehan. A successful and admired Construction Law Attorney, he was well-known as a fierce advocate for his clients â€" well prepared and fair, and one who never carried conflict outside the courtroom. He was the recipient of countless professional awards and was an Adjunct Professor of Construction Law at UNM.

Tim cared deeply about his community and was involved in establishing the Equal Access to Justice Lawyer's Fundraising Campaign, which was started in the late 80's to support legal services programs in New Mexico. He served in various roles on the board of directors, and in the mid-1990's Tim and others from the legal community began to advocate further at the State and National level, ultimately resulting in funding for legal services in New Mexico.

Tim married Scottie, his true love and enthusiastic travel partner, in 1987 and fully embraced her family of 5 daughters. Many adventures ensued over the next 35 years â€" all filled with love of family. In recent years, Tim's battle with Parkinson's Disease became more challenging. Tim never lost the twinkle in his eye, love of life and quick sense of humor.

Tim is survived by his wife Scottie, his son Sean, owner and founder of Sheehan Winery, daughters Terry, Shannon, Meghan and Kasey, his sister Kathleen, 15 grandchildren and their families. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Julie, his sisters Julianne and Patricia, and daughter Kelly.

A reception will be held at the Sheehan Winery Tasting Room in Old Town on Sunday, January 15 from

1-4pm.

So sad to hear of Tim's passing. We knew him well as he represented us in numerous suits during the early years of his practice. We will never forget his wedding to Scottie.

My thoughts and prayers are will all the family. I remember Tim fondly at HHS, class of 1967.

I was a classmate of Tim's at St. Charles School from 1955-1963, then also at Highland High 1964-1967. Tim was a great friend, a very smart and industrious youngster, and I have many memories of the times we spent together as classmates and friends. I am so sad to hear of his passing.

I knew Tim for a long time from Salt Lake City, boyhood neighbors, friend of his father, and as an attorney sharing the same experiences. I will miss him in law and in our commons experience. Goodby Tim.
