Trinidad "Trini" T. Martinez

Trinidad "Trini" T. Martinez passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leaving behind a legacy of joy, faith and family.

Trini was proceeded in death by her parents, Carlos and Corina Chavez, and her son, Paul Joseph Martinez.

Trini is survived by her three sisters, Theresa Davis and husband Richard, Dina Gonzales and Carla Barker and husband Troy. Trini is also survived by her three daughters, Annette Leyba and husband Alan, Robin Martinez and Teresa Martinez Biddinger. Trini also has five grandchildren: Michael and Steven Whitaker, Emma Martinez, and Nathan (fiance Krystal Campos) and Taylor Biddinger, and a daughter-in-law, Carmen Woods.

Trini was born in Torreon, New Mexico, on June 19, 1940. Her family moved to Albuquerque at an early age, where Trini attended elementary, middle and high school, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1958.

Trini met her then husband, Joseph B.A. Martinez, at St. Mary's, and they married shortly after her graduation. She supported Joe's career in the Navy and raised their children as they moved to numerous locations to include California, Virgina, Florida and Africa; many times, alone as Joe worked on various aircraft carriers. After Joe's retirement the family moved back to Albuquerque, where Trini started her career with the District Courts, and worked for her favorite boss, Judge Philip Ashby. Trini had a love for reading, crocheting, traveling with her family and friends, water aerobics and attending various Bible study groups. Her simple pleasures were watching T.V. and enjoying Sunday dinners with her family. Trini also had a deep love for her extended family, her life-long friendships, and was loyal to all. Her presence at sporting events was unmistakable, as she rang her cowbell and was the loudest cheerleader for her children and grandchildren, always encouraging them to excel and celebrate their achievements with genuine pride. Above all, Trini was a matriarch whose greatest success and source of pride was her family. She instilled in them values of love, faith in God, and the wisdom to face life's trials with grace. Her story is one of unwavering love and devotion, a reminder that the legacy she leaves is woven through the lives she touched, and the values she upheld.

Today as we reflect on the extraordinary life of Trinidad Martinez, let us carry her spirit forward. Let her dedication to her family, her passion for life, and her indomitable spirit inspire us to live each day with purpose and to always cherish our loved ones. Trini's journey on this earth may have come to a close, but the echoes of her amazing spirit will continue to inspire her family for years to come.

Trini's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 8:15 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church located at 5901 St. Josephs Dr. NW 87120. Mass will begin at 9:00 a.m.
