William C. Faulkner, Jr. died on November 30th, 2016 of a heart attack. He was 66. Originally hailing from Greenville, South Carolina, William made New Mexico and the American West his adopted home, relishing in its magic and its myths. From the "Hi-Line" in Montana to "the Compound" in Albuquerque â€" the sites of what he called his "ever-lasting glories" â€" "Way-Out Willie" dispensed love, endearment & especially humor, to all who knew him.

William believed in magic â€" whether it was diamonds cascading from his hair, or his claim to have learned flawless Spanish â€" William refused to accept the mundane. A day was never just a day: it was the grace of a blessed life. Never one to hold a grudge; always one to find the good in people. When in doubt, he'd recommend you mull things over a good Mexican brandy. He certainly followed his own advice. He left behind a gorgeous collection of Indian jewelry, red and aqua turquoises that shine and shimmer as he winks from them. "Time is our most precious gift," he'd say, "use it wisely." His time was short, and he knew it. But he remained persistently optimistic, insisting that he was just getting started. He fiercely loved his younger brothers and his two children, comforted in his deep pride of them, but assured that he could â€" and as he frequently proclaimed, would â€" whoop all their fannies any day of the week. "Jeez Lousie! Have a lil' mercy and let's have some fun!" he'd remind us. We can, William, and we will. We will miss you so, so much. Bueno Bye.
