Amy Hebert Breaud

1925 - 2024

Amy Hebert Breaud of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Born in 1925 in Vermilion Parish to Serena (Miia) and Ovey Hebert, Amy was the youngest of eight surviving children. She grew up in Abbeville and later moved to New Orleans, where she met Polyet Maron (P.M.) Breaud, DDS. They wed in 1948, beginning a loving marriage that thrived for 68 years, until his death in 2016. Amy is survived by her four children and their spouses, Suzette (Frank) Perry, of McKinney, Texas; Alan (Shelley) Breaud of Lafayette; Melanie (Gary) Black, of Lewisville, Texas; and Diane (Dale) Songy, of Baton Rouge. She was the proud and cherished "Grammy" to Meagan McClelland McKissick, Lieutenant Colonel "Will" Perry (USAF), Meredith McClelland Cotton, Graham Perry, Isabel Perry Allen, Alec Breaud, Hudson Breaud, Harrison Breaud, Amy Black Hoffman, Allyson Black Wall, Suzette Songy Perry, and Dr. Chad Songy. Her legacy includes twenty-five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, P.M. Breaud, DDS, her oldest son, Dr. Stephen M. Breaud, her parents, and her eight siblings. Though her favorite titles were those of "Mom" and "Grammy", she was often known as "Miss Amy" around Baton Rouge, where she was involved for many years in the Dental Auxiliary and various bridge groups and supper clubs. She was an avid tennis player at Bocage Country Club well into her 90's and an even more avid LSU baseball fan. She spent countless hours in the adoration chapel at Our Lady of Mercy, praying for her family and friends and offering Jesus helpful suggestions. Amy loved nothing more than hosting family and friends; incredible meals prepared and served with great love, always with a side of laughter. Her greatest joy was hosting the annual Breaud Family Thanksgiving celebration at her home. A private Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 1st at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, celebrated by Reverend Cleo Milano, Pastor. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, or Hospice of Acadiana's Food With Love program, 2600 Johnston Street, Lafayette.
