Claire Bohn Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, November 28, 2022 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, LA honoring the life of Claire Yvonne Villien Bohn, 78, who died peacefully Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville. Claire was born and raised in Abbeville, LA. She attended Mt. Carmel High School, where she came up one vote short of Homecoming Queen – and boy did we never forget it! She attended and graduated from St. Mary's Dominican College in New Orleans. Claire was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she generously gave her time as a 1st grade CCD teacher. She was involved in several organizations, such as the Junior League of Lafayette and Lafayette Parish Medical Society Auxiliary. Claire thrived during the Mardi Gras season, where she was an active member of several krewes in Lafayette, including Krewe of Attakapas, Krewe of Bonaparte and Krewe of Gabriel. In her spare time, she was a yoga enthusiast; although, "social enthusiast" may be a better description. If you knew Claire, you loved her. She was devoted not only to her immediate family, but to all her friends alike. She never met a stranger and, if she did, she would somehow find a way to be related, or make a connection. She will always be affectionately remembered as "Momma Claire" or "Miss Piggy" by her extended children. Claire is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Barry A. Bohn; son, Michael A. Bohn; daughter, Dianne Bohn Bourgeois and her husband, Chris Bourgeois; three grandchildren, Dianne Marie Bohn, Gabriel Alan Bohn and Sophie Grace Bourgeois; and brothers, Edward Charles Villien and Ferdinand Opta Villien, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand Opta Villien and the former Maude Fay Baudoin. The family is eternally grateful to her special friends and compassionate caregivers Tess Charles, Lauri Duke, Sonya Willis, Christina Calais, and the many others who provided their loving care for Claire in her final weeks. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 11:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Claire Bohn to either Hospice of Acadiana or the Carmelite Monastery in Lafayette. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.vincentfuneralhome.net. All funeral arrangements are being conducted by Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, (337) 893-4661.

Barry, Cynthia and I express our deepest sympathy to you, your children, and the entire Bohn family for your loss. Claire was a unique, one of a kind, person who always put a smile on the faces of each person she encountered. Cynthia and I will always be grateful to you and Claire for how you made us feel so welcomed when we first moved to Lafayette and had our medical offices next door to one another on Doucet Road. Those are wonderful memories which we will cherish forever.
