Curley Joseph Romero

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard for Curley Joseph Romero, age 88, who passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Camelot of Broussard. Entombment will be held in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Lafayette. Reverend Casey Dugas, Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and officiate the services. Survivors include his beloved wife of over 61 years, Joyce Duhon Romero; three daughters, Dana Romero Stinson (Bill), Dawn Romero Watson (Craig), and Darleen Romero Thibodeaux (Jeffrey); four grandchildren, Maxwell Joseph Stinson, Liam Isaac Stinson, Julianne Marie Frey, and Jonathan Thomas Frey; one sister-in-law, Wyonnia Romero; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Alexandré Romero, Sr., and Eunice Babin Romero; and three siblings, Udia Romero Begnaud (Wallace), Inez Romero Grossie (Albert), and Alexandré Romero, II. Curley was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette where he graduated from Lafayette High School. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed playing golf and in 1962 was admitted to the Professional Golfers Association of America and had a successful career as a golf professional and business owner. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, solving sudoku puzzles, and watching sports, especially local teams. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends during the holidays and family gatherings. The Romero family will receive guests on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Location.
