A Liturgy of the Word Service will be celebrated Wednesday, November 10, at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Darrell John Baudoin, 76, who passed away Monday, November 8, 2021, at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed on Wednesday, November 10th from 9:00 am until the time of service, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Deacon Frank Cormier, of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate. Darrell was born February 5, 1945, in Lafayette and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He was a parishioner of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette. Darrell was a dedicated worker for 20 years at the Parks and Recreations of Lafayette until his retirement. He was employed as a fireman for seven years in Lafayette. Darrell was an all-around handyman, even working as an electrician, known to be able to "fix anything". He always took the opportunity to fully apply himself, furthering his passion of repairing things and helping others. Darrell was an avid horse owner and lover. His fondest memory shared by his family was having the opportunity to own and name a horse after his beloved grandmother, Elena Matthieu, naming his horse Valelena. Most of all, Darrell loved spending time with his family and friends. Darrell is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carol Jean Kovar Baudoin, of Lafayette; his son, Steven Wade Baudoin and his wife Elissa, of Lafayette; his daughter, Anita Lorraine Baudoin Venable and her husband Michael, of Lafayette; two brothers, Glenn Baudoin and his wife Beverly, of Lafayette and Neal Baudoin, of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Sharon Baudoin, of Lafayette; his granddaughter, Eva Kate Venable; his grandson, Jeremy Wade Baudoin and numerous dear friends.
