Elizabeth Larroque Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Elizabeth Burke Larroque, age 91, at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 3, 2018, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Louis J. Richard V.F. will be celebrating the Mass with Msgr. H.A. Larroque and Father Jody Simoneaux as the concelebrants. Interment will follow at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. Mrs. Larroque passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018, 5:36 AM at Lafayette General Hospital. Born in New Iberia, LA, she graduated of Mount Carmel High School and Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now UL). Mrs. Larroque was a devout Catholic and very active in her community. She was married to Adolphe Aimé Larroque of Jeanerette, LA for 52 years. Together, they raised seven children. Mrs. Larroque was a member of the Fortnightly Literary Club and the Louisiana Society of the Colonial Dames. She was also a past board member of the Iberia Parish Library and the Jeanerette City Museum. She is survived by her son Andre' Larroque (Carol), son Charles Larroque (Dorice), daughter Sr. Celeste Larroque, SEC, daughter Lisette Carmichael (Brian), son Robért Larroque, son Jacques Larroque (Mary Ellen), daughter Nicole Dufour (Jay), and 12 grandchildren she loved dearly. A brother, Dracos D. Burke, also survives her. Mrs. Larroque is preceded in death by her husband, her father Donald Robert Burke Sr., her mother Celeste Dimitry Burke, her sister Patricia B. Dauterive and brother, Donald R. Burke Jr. Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be Jay Dufour, Walter Gugenberger, Andrew Carmichael, Jean-Pierre Larroque, Henri Larroque and Burke Larroque. Honorary Pallbearers will be Beth Pharr, Sheila Landry and Bessie Daurbigny. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sisters of the Eucharistic Covenant at 105 Upperline Ave., Lafayette, La. 70501, or Angel Paws, 1314 Troy Rd., New Iberia, La. 70563, or Iberia Parish Library, 411 Kentucky St., Jeanerette, LA 70544.
