Elizabeth Lavergne Obituary

A Funeral Service will be held for Elizabeth Boagni Barstow Lavergne on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. in the SIbille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville. A Eulogy will be by Hugh Thistlethwaite and Jeanette Bourgeois. Elizabeth Boagni Barstow Lavergne passed away at her resident on June 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family after fighting a "Brave Battle" with cancer. She was 81. She was employed for 35 years, in the Banking Industry, working as a Bank Teller and Branch Manager. She enjoyed her customers, loved and was loved by her fellow workers. Elizabeth never knew a stranger. Her kindness and generosity of spirit were unmatched. If you knew Elizabeth "Liz"/ Mama Liz you knew you were loved, and you never went hungry. She is survived by her loving husband, Collins Lavergne. Four Children, Tracy Barstow and wife Kelly, Ryan Barstow and wife, Gretchen, Katherine Barstow and Gretchen Barstow, eight grandchildren, Dillon Barstow, Michael Wartelle, Margo Barstow, Heath Barstow, Patrick Barstow, Brook Barstow Kunz and husband, Zach, Rebecca Barstow and Leslie Barstow, one great-grandchild, Leighton Elizabeth Kunz. She was a mother to Michelle Lavergne, Glynn "Bubbie" Savage, Jr. and Margie Savage. She is also survived by her brother, Charles F. Boagni, III., "Boody", and one sister, Marguerite Boagni Bordelon, also many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. Boagni, Jr. and Marguerite Boagni and sister Sally Boagni Clary. Her family is grateful to all who cared for her and reached out to her. Pallbearers will be Dillon Barstow, Michael Wartelle, Heath Barstow, and Patrick Barstow, honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Thistlethwaite, Charlie Boagni, IV, Gary Lavergne, and Greg Bordelon. Family request that a visitation to be held on Friday, June 18, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Words of Comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Tracy, Ryan, Katherine and Gretchen, My deepest sympathy on the death of your lovely mother. I only wish I had found out sooner. What I remember most about her was her big heart, that beautiful warm smile and always warm words, and her love for her children. RIP, Liz.
