Howard James Faucheaux

Memorial Services will be conducted for Howard James Faucheaux, 77, on Monday, November 28. 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Buddy Breaux officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be at David Funeral Home in Loreauville on Sunday, November 27, 2016, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Monday, November 28, 2016, at 7:30 AM until 9:45 AM. A rosary will be prayed by Fr. Barry Crochet at the funeral home on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at 6:00 PM. A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Faucheaux passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 10:00 AM at his residence. Howard loved hunting deer and exploring the Atchafalaya Basin. He retired from Shell Oil Company where he worked for 28 years. After retirement he enjoyed gathering with friends to cook wonderful meals. You could say he was passionate about the art of cooking, but that was just one of his passions. He was also known as a knife maker. Stories have been written that tell he was a man of patience and perseverance. His desire was to produce a work of art in each knife that he created. It had to be beautiful to look at and a real pleasure to use. He was a caring son and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and everyone who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dawn Lyl "Joe" Faucheaux of Loreauville; his sons, Todd Faucheaux and his companion Dawn Christensen of New Iberia, Chad Faucheaux and his wife Karla of Scott and Cody Faucheaux and his wife Chelsea of Loreauville; his grandson, Jacob Faucheaux of Loreauville and his granddaughters, Kristian Faucheaux of Lafayette, Stephanie Mendoza and Santiago Faucheaux both of Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Faucheaux and Louda Berard Faucheaux and his brother, Cecil Faucheaux. The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana.
