Jerome Eraste Domengeaux Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Jerome Eraste Domengeaux, Jr., 64, who died on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his children. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. The Very Reverend Chester C. Arceneaux, JCL, VF, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include two daughters, Natasha LeBlanc Hethcoat and her husband Chris, and Shani Marie Domengeaux; two sons, Jerome Eraste Domengeaux, III, and Deuce Domengeaux and his wife, Kirsten Meche; two sisters, Jane Ann Domengeaux Bayard and Julia "Jebbye" Martha Domengeaux Moroux; one brother, James H. Domengeaux; and four grandchildren, Dylan Anthony Hethcoat, Ashlyn Paige Hethcoat, Elizabeth McClain Hethcoat, and Mary-Katherine Grace Hethcoat; He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Eraste Domengeaux, Sr. and Julia Marie Harvey Domengeaux; one sister, Joan Marie Domengeaux Autin; and nephew, Eraste Thomas Autin. Jerome Eraste Domengeaux, Jr., also known as "J-Boy", was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended Cathedral-Carmel High School where he was a member of the National Honors Society, senior class President and voted Most Popular. He attended USL, class of '76, where he was president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, President of Blue Key National Honor Society and USL Budweiser Representative "Bud Man". He worked in furniture sales for many years before his retirement. Mr. Domengeaux was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan, and had a smile that would light up the room. He was very outgoing, never met a stranger, and always treated everyone with respect, regardless of their status. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Pallbearers will be Jerome Eraste Domengeaux, III, Deuce Domengeaux, Chris Hethcoat, William Bayard, Rex Moroux, James Bayard, Dr. Robert Autin, Jerome Moroux and James H. Domengeaux, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Guilliot, Steven Landry, Richard Landry, Jimmy Trahan and Billy Jacob. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
