John Carradine Obituary

John Hunter Carradine passed away on Aug. 22, 2015, in Mandeville, LA, at the age of 86. He led a full and passionate life, enjoying such diverse interests as music, car racing, aviation, and sailing. He was raised in NYC, served in the U.S. Air Force then settled in Louisiana, where he attended Louisiana State University. He was a salesman for CBS Musical Instruments for many years, as well as a Realtor for C.J. Brown in Baton Rouge. He later returned to university for a graduate degree, earning his MA at University of Southern Mississippi in Music Composition and Theory. From there he taught middle school in DeRidder, Louisiana. He eventually settled in Mandeville, LA, where he enjoyed sailing and conducting the local civic band. He is survived by former wife Shirley Scott Carradine; daughters Alison Kelly, Nancy Carradine-Saltzman, Susannah Carradine-Franz; and son, Dr. John Rembert Carradine, as well as grandchildren Ruby Saltzman, Spencer Saltzman, Lucy Carradine, and Stella Carradine.
