Joseph Russell Mayfield

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Joseph R. Mayfield, 79, who passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Father Edward Duhon, Associate Pastor at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony. Lectors are Barbara Asibor-Asberry and Fallon Buckner. Gift Bearers are Barbara Asibor-Asberry and Charlene Boudreaux. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation hours will be observed at Walters Funeral Home on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be prayed on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Survivors include his wife, Patsy M. Mayfield of Carencro; one daughter, Lydia Bagneris of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Joyce Eaglin of Grand Coteau, and Barbara Senegal of Grand Coteau; three brothers, Joseph Mayfield of Carencro, Harold Mayfield of Baton Rouge, and Otis Mayfield of Houston, TX; and two grandchildren, Alex Boudreaux of Atlanta, GA, and Jaylin Boudreaux of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Charles Mayfield; and one brother, Lawrence Mayfield. Joseph was a resident of Carencro for 40 years, and was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver at St. Jules Catholic Church. He was employed by Entergy Gas for 39 years. Pallbearers will be Alexander J. Bagneris, III, Damien Eaglin, Phillip Eaglin, Jr., Raymond Matthews, Jr., Ronald Prejean, and Harold Senegal.
