Lewis Graham Jr. Obituary

Lewis T. Graham, Jr., 83, passed away Oct.28, 2023 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston, MA while on vacation. He was born in Alexandria, La. on August 24, 1940 to Lewis Texada Graham and Justine Bruner Graham. Lew spent most of his young life in Lafayette, La. He grew up attending the beautiful old First Methodist Church on Lee Avenue. He began his schooling at Hamilton Training School, then Lafayette High School and USL after a stint in the Army immediately upon graduating high school. Kathleen Thibodeaux and Lew were married in 1962 in Abbeville and moved to Indianapolis where Lew pursued his Ph.D. in biochemistry at Indiana University. Lew and Kathy are the parents of David Lewis Graham, Eric Joseph Graham and Kathleen Renee Graham Davis (Wesley). Many years after Kathy's untimely death, Lew married June Hornsby and a stepdaughter, Nicole Navarro, joined the family. An outdoor enthusiast, Lew loved the mountains even building a second home in Colorado. He also enjoyed the water very much and became quite skilled at boat building. As a teenager, he and his dad built a boat in the backyard further fueling his interest. Another strong interest he had was running, a product of surviving polio as a young man. One of Lew's popular sayings was "my favorite colors are green, blue and sunshine". Lew was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Lewis T. Graham, his first wife, Kathy, his second wife, June and his beloved son, David. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Eric, his daughter and son-in-law Katie and Wesley Davis, his stepdaughter Nicole Navarro, his sister and brother-in-law Connie Moran and his niece and nephew Nicole and Steven (Stacey) Ancelet and his dear companion, Barbara Lauden. Lew was Paw Paw to his grandchildren: Katie, Lunden, Zoe, Cody, Austen and Mason Graham, Isabelle and Paisley Davis and Sarah Rouse. Lew was loved by many and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the American Heart Association. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
