Betty Turns Obituary

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Betty Dunaway Turns, 91, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch, MS. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am, also at Coleman Funeral Home. Rev. Kerry Powell of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Betty was born on July 13, 1934 in Halls, TN. She was an avid Bridge player, a devout Christian and member of Pleasant Hill UMC. Betty had her Master's Degree in teaching and taught for over 30 years at Orleans Elementary School in Memphis TN. Betty cherished her family and many friends. Betty is survived by her daughter, Valerie Barris of Byhalia, MS; nieces, April Robinson (Bill) of Collierville, TN and Sherry Dunaway Hall (Rich) of Germantown, TN; nephews, Tommy Dunaway (Amy) of Nashville, TN and Mike McCormick (Stacey) of Franklin, TN. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Texas Dunaway; mother, Jeanette Dunaway; sister, Shirley McCormick; brother, Thomas Eugene Dunaway and brother-in-law, Mac McCormick.
