James Solberg Obituary

James Robert "Jim" Solberg, Jr., 62, passed away on July 11, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Tipton in Covington, TN. James was born on June 11, 1963 in Jacksonville, FL to parents James Robert and Avis Geneva Shelton Solberg. Mr. Jim was a retired sheet metal worker and was also known as the go-to back-yard mechanic throughout the neighborhood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and any time he could catch a basketball game, he would be sure to watch the Memphis Tigers or the Grizzlies play. Mr. Jim had also recently discovered a new favorite pastime - training disc dogs - with his best four-legged friend Tippy. Mr. Jim is survived by his mother, Avis Geneva Solberg; his daughter, Amanda Rains (Chris); his grandchildren, Lyra Cottingham, Maggie Rains, and Nora Rains, and his step-daughter, Joyce Green. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Solberg, Sr.; his step-son, Jeff Green, and his sister, Terri Renee Solberg. Cremation is under the direction of Covington Funeral Home, and there are no services planned at this time.
