Kenneth David Plunk passed from this life on Saturday, February 15, 2025. He was born September 26, 1946, to Opha and Nona Lee Cody Plunk in Selmer, TN. Kenneth grew up in Memphis where he graduated from Treadwell High School. He ran track and played basketball and a member of the ROTC.Kenneth was a Member of St. Stephen Methodist church in Memphis. In his early years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the guitar. He later developed an interest in photography. In his spare time he photographed weddings and family events as a hobby. While in college he worked his way through college working at Sears and Kimberly-Clark.He graduated from Memphis State University with a degree in Finance and Accounting. Following graduation, Kenneth worked in payroll and as payroll manager for many years. He retired from Methodist Hospital Germantown.Kenneth and Carolyn met at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Memphis in April of 1987 at a singles connection event. As Carolyn said, "It was an immediate connection." Their first date was in May and they married on November 14, 1987 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hernando. Soon thereafter they moved to Hernando in June of 1988.Kenneth and Carolyn loved to travel to the beaches at Sandestin, Destin, Ft Walton Beach, Orange Beach, Pensacola & to Pickwick Landing. He was an animal lover with an affection for his mini-dachshund, Chloe. Kenneth enjoyed watching and photographing planes. He enjoyed reading suspense novels, spending time with Carolyn, eating out, and traveling to family reunions. He loved country music, gospel music, and the old songs and hymns. Kenneth and Carolyn joined Hernando Methodist on July 9, 2017.Kenneth transitioned from this life on Saturday evening, February 15. His faith in Christ never wavered. Kenneth and Carolyn are deeply grateful for the love and prayers from their Hernando Methodist staff and friends, Silver Sneakers, Adult Fellowship Sunday school class and all who sent cards, called, brought meals, and offered up prayers. Kenneth and Carolyn are thankful for his caregivers, Sherry and Jeanna, who have become great friends.Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Opha and Nona Lee Cody Plunk and his younger sister, Ruth Ann Kiperts. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carolyn Kidd Plunk, and many cousins, two nephews, two nieces, aunts, a great niece and great nephew, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law.A service of celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 22, at Hernando Methodist Church at 12:30 pm officiated by Rev. David Cox and Rev. James Arnold. Burial will be at Nesbit Cemetery with Rev. Truman Scarborough from Grenada, MS assisting.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hernando Meals on Wheels or Hernando Methodist Church or
charity of your choice.
