Michael Moody Obituary

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Michael Oran Moody, 74, of Ft. Smith, AR passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025. Michael was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was well known for his selfless personality, friendly nature, high standard of integrity, and dry wit. He will be missed by all who knew him. Michael was born on August 19, 1950 in Ft. Smith, AR to Helen and Oran Moody, Jr. He graduated from Northside High School and attended Westark Community College. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Ft. Smith, but he also frequently attended First Baptist Church of Fort Smith. Michael was an award winning competitive marksman and a long time member of the Old Fort Gun Club. In his younger years, Michael loved water-skiing, fishing, camping, canoeing with his daughter, and hunting. He was a career accountant and a partner with his father in Moody and Moody Accountants. In his later years, Michael's favorite things to do were go on daily walks with his friend Sandy McKeown, make macaroni and cheese with his granddaughters, pray daily for family and friends, watch Charles Stanley, and spend time visiting and talking with his family and many friends. Left to cherish Michael's memory are his daughter, Emily Wallace (Jimmy) of Olive Branch, MS; granddaughters, Avery Grace Wallace, Madeline Claire Wallace, and Caroline Kate Wallace, all of Olive Branch; and, sisters, Gail Branstetter (Russ) of Tuttle, OK and Mona Lejman (Bruno) of Van Buren, AR. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Kelly Moody and Oran Moody, Jr. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Michael's life on Saturday, August 30, 2025. There will be a visitation at 10:00am with the service to follow at 11:00am. The memorial will he held at First Church of the Nazarene in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's honor may be sent to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.stjude.org Online condolences can be written on his tribute page at www.colemanfuneralhomeob.com.
