Peggy Byard Obituary

Peggy Joyce Byard, 78, a resident of Coldwater, passed away on Monday, September 1st, 2025. Born in Guntown, MS December 16th, 1946, Peggy attended Southside High School. She was married on May 26th of 1967 and shared 55 years with her loving husband, Jerry. Peggy was a very creative woman and loved participating in crafts such as sewing, painting and attending craft shows. She loved to spend time in her garden. Peggy also loved music, she was a talented pianist and an avid Elvis enthusiast. Peggy is survived by her two children, Jerry Byard II (Stacie) of Southaven, MS and Tina Knowlton (Patrick) of Millersville, MD, four grandchildren, Anna, Carley, Sarah, and Jeremiah, one great-granddaughter, Emory, and one soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Cannon. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her brother, James "Jimmy" Griffin, and her parents, Emma Faye Griffin and Wilbur Floy Griffin. Visitation will be Friday, September 5th, 2025 from 12:00pm-1:00pm at Hernando Funeral Home with services immediately to follow. Burial will be at Hinds Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery in Lake Cormorant immediately after the service. The Byard family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the ICU staff and the rest of Peggy's care team at Baptist Desoto Hospital.
