Richard Allen Thomas

Richard Allen Thomas Sr., Retired Memphis Firefighter, 80, passed away on Oct 7, 2025. He was a resident of Memphis, TN. Richard, was born on November 10, 1944 in Memphis, TN to Hallie Jr. and Bonnell (West) Thomas. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Hallie Jr. and Bonnell Thomas as well as his brother, Charles Thomas, sister Lois Patricia Windscheffel (Robert) and nephew David Thomas. Survivors include his son, Richard Thomas Jr (Devona); grand daughter, Lyndsey Wesson (Heath); great-grandchildren, Talen Brown, and Emery Wesson; siblings, Hallie Thomas III (Dianne), and MaryBeth Davidson. Richard also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Paul Davidson, Dane Davidson, Lisa Jones, Jennifer Beth Stewart, Chris Frazier, Terry Northrip, LeeAnn Gregory, Donnie Thomas, Dan Thomas, Christy Thomas, and Melissa Thomas Gaulding. Richard was a graduate of Whitehaven High School and served in the United States Navy reserve. He was a dedicated 30-year firefighter for Memphis Fire Department retiring as a Lieutenant nickname "bullet". Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, grandkids, and great grandkids. He loved shooting sports, fishing, hunting and cooking out. He had a great love for animals and loved to socialize. Visitation will take place on Tuesday Oct. 14, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 12:00 p.m. at the Hernando Funeral home located at 2285 Highway 51 South, Hernando, MS.
