Barbara Greeson Obituary

Barbara Ann Aldridge Greeson, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at her home on Signal Mountain surrounded by family and friends. After a 15-month battle with brain cancer, she was ready to go to her eternal home with her Savior. Barbera was born July 22, 1946, in Columbia, Tenn., and lived most of her life and raised her family in Smyrna, Ga., before moving to Signal Mountain to be close to her grandchildren. She was an award-winning real estate agent in Georgia, a nationally known member of the Jaycees Women, holding several state and national offices, including being the national president in the 1970s, and was an eternal supporter and concession-stand volunteer of every athletic team and organization her family was a part of. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Hardison Aldridge and Charles Terrell Aldridge. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Jerry, and her son, Jay (Kathleen C.); her sisters, Lynn Cole (Bruce C.), of McMinnville, Tenn., and Mary Alice Gilbreth (Wayne G.), of Chattanooga; and her brother, Charles Terrell Jr.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; including Scott Cole (Amy Wade C.), of Nashville; as well as her precious grandchildren, Lee and Madeline Ray Greeson. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct., 16, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Signal Mountain Church of Christ, where she was an active and joyful member. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Signal Mountain Church of Christ in her name. Arrangements are by Cremation Center of Chattanooga; 423-362-5999.

Barbara was the President of the US Jaycee Women/Jayceetes in 1978/79. She was a member of the CREW of the SS Fellowship. It had not been many years since I talked to her and she told me she did not have time for our group for she was caring for her mother who was ill. It was a shock to learn of her passing. She will be missed by all of the Jaycees/Jayceetes who knew her. Our deepest condolences from the CREW of the SS Fellowship to her Family.

Jerry and Jay - I was saddened to learn of the loss of Barbara. I met her when I worked at Cleveland and I loved her spirit and her honesty. It is hard to lose a loved one and I don't really think that time heals like a lot of people say but just take one day at a time. Blessings and prayers..............Deborah Thornton

Mike and I were both saddened to hear the news regarding Barbera. She meant a lot to both us, and she will always have a special place in my heart. Her enthusiasm for life and dedication to family and friends was exceptional. She was one of the most intelligent women I've ever come in contact with. She not only was she an educational genius, but had worldly knowledge dealing with all kinds of individuals and situations. We will miss her. Thoughts and prayers go to Jerry, Jay, Kathleen and children. She loved they so much.
