Bradley White Obituary

"Dangerous Flights" Pilot Succumbs to Cancer

"Brad" White, 41

Former Anchorage resident Bradley C. "Brad" White passed away April 6, 2014 in Thousand Oaks, CA after a year long battle with cancer. Born June 30, 1972 in Chicago, he was raised in Barrington, IL.

Brad was a civilian international pilot. He moved to Alaska in 2000 and started his flying career in the Alaskan bush, as Station Master in St. Mary's, Alaska, for Tanana Air. He then transitioned to med-evac pilot out of Anchorage.

The flying he did most recently took him all over the world and into some pretty intense situations. Eight years ago he accepted a position in Khartoum, Sudan, Africa; flying country leaders and United Nations VIPs to the hot spots in Africa.

Succeeding assignments led him to Panama, Colombia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Moscow, and for the last several years, working with the military out of both Kabul and Bagram AFB in Afghanistan.

As a fun side activity, Brad was involved with Discovery Channel as one of the featured pilots in the adventure series, "Dangerous Flights." It was released in The States last November.

The world was Brad's territory. For him, heading to Dubai or Athens or Tokyo was like one of us hopping into the car and heading to the mall.

Those who knew him considered Brad unique, a one-of-a-kind person who lived life so large. He was fun and funny, smart, strong, creative and energetic. And thoughtful and kind. One of his most endearing gifts was his true charisma; the ability to genuinely connect with people. Wherever he went, he left something of himself. He had friends all over the world.

Brad leaves behind his mother, Barbara White of Palatine, IL; father, Pierce (Meg) White of St. Charles, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Amy White; and nephew, Quinn of Thousand Oaks, CA; numerous relatives, and more devoted friends, world-wide, than one can count.

Hell of a pilot, fun to watch on Dangerous Flights and a guy you wished you could have known. Just watched the series he was on ferry flying and looked him up and saw what happened to him and was honestly crushed and numb for a bit.. really bummed me out.. I never knew him but wished I had. Sorry for your loss.

I just happened to do a search for Brad. Ive looked for him in the past, but never had any luck.

I spent my Freshman year at Carthage (91/92) and this is where I met him. A tall, thinner guy with a deep scratchy voice, a hippie at heart and an overall God person. I truely enjoyed being friends with him while I was there.

I recall Brad "welcoming me" by giving me my very own Greatful Dead sticker for my door. But my greatest memory is the homecoming dance, held at a local hotel, where he jumped into the pool fully clothed. I'll never forget that moment... and thinking, I'm gonna dig that dude!!!

I'm sorry to hear of this news.
And yet happy I found him.

Much love.

I work as a transcriber and Dangerous Flights was one of the shows that I had the great fortune to work on. As a transcriber I work on hours and hours of raw unedited footage, much of which never makes it to air, and Brad's sense of humour was never lost on me. Please accept my sincere condolences, he was a good man.

I have only known Brad through his mother but am certain of his fine character and so deeply saddened that the Lord took him home so early in life. I know from all of your pictures and testimonies that you have a deep love for him for which he is so blessed. May time take the pain and leave you with the precious memories. It is so difficult to lose our love ones. There is very little that can be said that will bring you immediate comfort.
Please accept my sincere sympathy along with these words of comfort: "he heals the brokenhearted ; he binds up their wounds." Psalm 147:3 Know that God will continue to give you what you need to live each day without He invites you to let him help. . (Jeremiah 29:12) . . .And YOU will certainly call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to YOU. . .
