Brandon Miller Obituary

Brandon Allen Miller, known to family and friends as "BAM," 21, died Oct. 29, 2009, at his home in Anchorage.

A celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Cornerstone Church, 10431 Brayton Drive.

Brandon was born Feb. 2, 1988, in Great Falls, Mont. He moved with his family to Anchorage in 1991 and attended Huffman Elementary, Goldenview Middle School and Service and South high schools. Brandon received his GED in Denver, Colo., in 2005 while caring for his father, who was recovering from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He enthusiastically played a number of years for the Elmendorf AFB and AOR Little League programs.

Brandon found his true calling working for Nabors Alaska as a roughneck on rig CDR2 on the North Slope for the last three years. Brandon lived life big and especially enjoyed children. His dream was to give his parents there first grandchild. BAM always enjoyed fishing on the Big Susitna drainage with his family. He loved to camp and spent many adventurous times with his good friends at "The Spot" in Cooper Landing. He once took his younger brother's new Tahoe for a test drive over the weekend to The Spot and sank it! BAM said it was not worth the money. He also enjoyed giving his older brother a lesson at golf when given the opportunity.

BAM could light up a room with his smile and had a heart of gold. He always knew just the right thing to say at any given moment. BAM had no issues, however, with giving you his truthful thought on the situation.

Brandon is survived by his father, Blaine Miller of Anchorage; his mother, Kim Harris and step-father, Darren Harris, of Palmer; two brothers, Todd Miller of Anchorage and Nicolas Miller of Hawaii; uncle Wayne Cavanaugh of Aurora, Colo.; aunt Kori Heisen of Coos Bay, Ore.; cousin Ashley Cavanaugh of Corvalis, Ore.; uncle Mark and aunt Lerenea Miller; three cousins, Aaron, Cheyenne and Cody Miller, all of Anchorage; uncle Troy Miller and aunt Kathy; cousins Austin and Alex of Cleveland, Ohio; both maternal and paternal grandmothers of central Oregon; paternal grandfather of Dayville, Ore.; great-grandmother, Betty Kennon of West Covina, Calif; his dear friends, Molly and Mariha Custer of Bend, Ore; and many special friends here in Anchorage and in central Oregon.

Brandon was preceded in death by his uncle Ronnie Cavanaugh.

Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

To the family of Brandon Miller: I am so sorry for your loss. I had a chance to work with Barandon on CDR2. He was a great kid and would spend time teaching me new things on the computer. I appreciated his comments and help as he was a valuable member of our team. Sincerely, Don Couch CDR2

I always remember BAM's smile everytime he's around the house during my caregiving days to their Dad. I remember the day when Blaine, his dad, joyfully announced that BAM have started attending the church at ChangePoint. BAM finally decided to find the way in going back to his "Father's House", a turningpoint in Bam's life.... My condolences and prayers to the Miller family.

Blaine and Kimy,

One of the greatest gifts in life is having a child and one of the hardest challenges in life, is losing one. Know that you both are surrounded by a multitude of people that are praying for you and will be there today and everyday in the future. May God give you strength on this day and an understanding that there are so many things in life that we can't control. You are not alone in your pain and grief, nor will you be alone in your path to acceptence. Our prayers and and profound love are with you and your family.

Miller Family and Many Friends

I have known the Miller family for many, many years and they are very special friends. Over the years, Grandma Peggy Miller kept me informed how her grandchildren were growing up and what they were doing over. Tons of love in this family. This is a time to cherish the memories of BAM and the great times here on this earth with family and friends.

God Bless,

BAM was very special. He always have a smile on his face and had a look in his eye that he knew something you didn't. I always thought of him like a second son and he even called me Mom. Nothing was more important to BAM than his family. He was so excited about being a big brother this spring and couldn't wait to find out if it would be a boy or girl. We lost someone that was such a bright star. We will miss Brandon very much. Our thoughts are with the family.
