Brittany Butt Obituary

Brittany (Wiest) Butt, 25, of Anchorage, Alaska, died unexpectedly on Nov. 12, 2014. Brittany was born on Aug. 15, 1989, in Fairfax, Va., to Natalie (Wiest) Velasquez and Thomas Taylor. Brittany attended Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Va., where she graduated with an International Baccalaureate degree, at age 16, in 2006. She volunteered at an animal shelter in Washington State and worked at a vet clinic in Hayfield, Va. Her dream was to be a sports veterinarian and to run the Iditarod. Recently, she was taking pre-veterinarian courses online through the University of North Carolina after taking classes at the University of Pittsburgh. Brittany was also a dog handler for Karen Ramstead. Above all, Brittany considered motherhood to be her greatest achievement. Brittany is survived by her husband, Jeff; son, Teige; mother, Natalie (Wiest) Velasquez (Ed Slouffman); father, Thomas Taylor (Megin); sister, Bridget Velasquez; stepfather, David Velasquez; and grandmother, Janett Winslow. She was preceded in death by sister, Tasha Wiest; and grandparents, Calvin Wiest and Helen (Sherlock) Wiest. Services will be held at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, located at 1612 Oceanview Dr. in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014. Visitation will be at 2 p.m., with a Service at 3 p.m. Interment will be at St. Martin Lutheran Cemetery in Anamoose, N.D. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for a scholarship fund for her son, Teige. For information, Jeff Butt can be contacted at [email protected]. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

I'm so sorry Natalie and family. My thoughts are with you.

Extending my deepest condolences to Brittany's family. There is little that I personally can say or do to erase your pain and suffering. May knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many, bring a measure of comfort. We look forward to the time when all things that cause sickness and death will be eradicated by God's kingdom (Matt 6:9,10)~Nicky

I wish to express my condolences to Brittany's family. Words seem insufficient at this difficult time. We all need comfort when someone we love dies. May you find real comfort and relief from our heavenly Father, family and friends; and as a result, begin to recover gradually from the pain. Love from those around you will help you through the days ahead. The precious memories of Brittany will bring you comfort. She is no longer suffering, but now just resting (John 11:11)

Isa 57:15: "For this is what the High and Lofty One, who is residing forever and whose name is holy has said: In the height and in the holy place is where I reside, also with the one crushed and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly ones and to revive the heart of the ones being crushed".
May God give your family strength during this very difficult time.
Please accept my most heart felt condolences.

There simply aren't words to comfort or explain at a time like this. Know that you all have support far and wide. Brittany touched the lives of many people.

Brittany was like a sister to me. She helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and was the center of some of the best times. I can't express how much I'll miss her, but she will never be forgotten.
