Charles Courtright Obituary

Charles Daniel Courtright died at his home in Anchorage January 23rd. He was a self proclaimed " two bit philosopher", well educated in the ways of the world and largely self taught. He was a prolific reader. Charles was the fifth of nine children born to Harry and Ann Courtright in Portland, OR. on February 9, 1949. He lived his early life in Portland and Grants Pass, OR., moving to Anchorage with his parents and younger siblings in 1962. Charles was a 1967 graduate of West HS and briefly attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks before entering the US Army in 1969. He served as an MP at Ft. Hood, TX. Following his discharge he returned to Anchorage and later moved to Seldovia. He was a member of the roofers union and worked many years in that trade. Like most Alaskans he enjoyed the outdoors. Charles is survived by his children, Galen and Emily, grandsons Elliot and Emitt all of Anchorage; sisters Karen Bury of Walla Walla, Marsha Laabs of Wasilla, Barbara Black and Paula Berg of Anchorage and brother Geoffrey of Portland. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ted and sisters Anne and Jennifer. Remembrances to your local charity.

I didn't know Charles but knew his Dad, Harry, and brother Geoffrey when I worked in Alaska for Industrial Indemnity and then Scott Wetzel Services. So sorry to Geoffrey and the family for their loss of Charles. I did not know that Harry had passed but I've been gone from Alaska for 26 yrs. now.
