My dear friend,
Thinking about you tonight as we draw closer to that time of year. I think of you often but particularly at Christmas. I got to see your boys a while back- my goodness they've grown into such handsome young men. I will be lighting a candle for you again this year. You are dearly missed Chris and will be forever in our hearts. Gone too soon but never forgotten. I know one day we'll meet again.

All the one year anniversaries are over, that was tough. You were my first born child and gave me so much
joy as a young mother. Your teenage years were quite difficult, but you made it thru and did go on to accomplish many amazing things. I am soooo proud of you and wish I could tell you. You turned out to be very strong and loved challenges. Your boys are doing okay, they have had alot of adjusting to do. I wish they were closer but we do our best to keep in touch and see each other. Well Chris, I must say Good Bye my sweet boy. Don't worry, I will still be talking to you every day. I love you! Mom

He left us quietly
His thoughts unknown
But left us a memory,
We are proud to own;
So treasure him Lord,
In your garden of rest,
For when on earth,
He was one of the best.

13 years ago a fine young man (someone I knew of but didn't know yet) walked up to my house and into our lives. He had beautiful blue eyes with a smile to match. I met a awesome new friend,(son) my children a brother. I didn't know how much he would change our lives. He did, in a big way. But, that was Chris. Always doing it big no matter what he did ! He was an incredible person, loving, caring gentle, rough, honorable, hard working and much much more, all rolled into a man who willed be missed tremendously. A Father, a son, a brother, a friend to many. A man of many roles. Chris you will always be remembered never forgotten -Your spirit will live on - I will see you in your boys. Your brothers and your father. I know you wouldn't want us to be sad. But that will take time. This really is hard. I cherish the days we had together and wish we could of had much more . I will try to remember how lucky we were to have you as long as we did. Not always easy to see any good out of this. I miss you , Mr. Henderson ! I know you are with Eska together again. Your buddy, having a time. There is comfort knowing that you have him with you. Good bye is so hard to say, so I say, I will see you again my dear friend. I hope you have a pair of gloves and a flash light for me !! Dude you Rock !!!

It has been so hard to say goodbye to Chris, and like everybody else, I'm still not ready to let go. I spent the best 12 years of my life with Chris, and have the happiest memories of my life with him. I want to thank everybody for your well wishes for Bailey and Joshua. They had the best father in the world, and with the help of memories, friends, and loved ones we will be sure that they know that every day. Chris was my best friend and the love of my life and I miss him every minute of every day. I am so glad to see that he touched so many lives. He truly was an amazing man. He was an angel that we were all blessed to know for such a brief time, and for some reason he was called home too early. Thank you for keeping our sons in your prayers. Melissa

So many hearts were broken the day God decided he needed you. The memories I have of you will live on forever. I watched you grow from a boy to a man and take on responsibilities of your own, because you always believed in what you did. I remember and will never forget the year you invited me to go on a moose hunt with you. You kept calling it the "trip from hell" because everything kept going wrong. But I enjoyed every moment. I called it an adventure I will never forget. Remember $100 here, $100 there fixed a lot of problems. It kind of became our little joke. You leave behind two wonderful boys that will be well taken care of by their mother, family and a lot of friends. They will carry on their memories of you. Remember you were their "bestest dad ever." The pain and sorrow of losing you will take time to heal but memories will never be forgotten. You were a wonderful loving son and I'm very proud of what you did and accomplished in your life. I love you and will miss you but you will never be forgotten.
I bet he let Eska drive one of the trucks . . .

Chris was my brother, a mentor, and a friend, he was also a great father. I knew he had a lot of friends and that he was a pretty important guy, after all he told me all the time. But as a younger brother you tend to think maybe he's exaggerating a tad bit. After meeting so many wonderful people up there I was even more proud of him. Turns out I had no idea what an influence he had up on the slope, in his community, and with his wonderful friends. I wanted to sign his guest book to say goodbye again and to hopefully reach out to those people I got to meet so that they may contact me. Chris was taken way too soon for reasons we won't know, there must have been some big trouble only he could handle, but we still have his wonderful attitude to think about along with his infectious grin. Of course he would be angry with all of us for being sad, that's just the way he was (We're all sad brother, you'll just have to try to understand this time). As upset as we are about him being gone, I know for a fact that nobody is more upset than he is. I love my brother very much and regret the limited time we had together so if anyone would like to share pictures or stories I would welcome that. I thank everybody who has signed this, hearing your stories warms my heart and our family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers as well. Everybody from Anchorage to Prudhoe, thank you. My brother was a man who loved helping other people, no matter how much he did, he always felt he should do more. He loved his family, he loved his friends, and he loved flashlights, gloves, guns and knives and dogs. So I will say goodbye to you once again bro, I know you're all decked out with some fancy gloves, a nice Rescue 1 Heaven's Fire shirt you probably traded some dude for and a sweet flashlight with Eska by your side. I know you'll do what you can up there, we'll take care of everything down here brother, I love you.

This has been hard but I feel I must make an entry to thank everyone of my sons wonderful friends, co-workers and fellow firefighters for everything you did for this family while we were up there. The outpouring of kindness was overwhelming, the genuine sadness felt by all was amazing to me. I knew he did great things and so loved his life in Alaska but even I as a mother was more impressed with all he had accomplished. I will miss my sweet boy every day but we will go on in honor of him and my grandsons as he would want us to do. Again, words are not enough to thank all of you wonderful people. Keep smiling and positive attitude for Chris....we can do it. Love, your very proud Mother

It was with shock and dismay that I recieved the news that Chris has passed away. Chris has been our captain on the Rescue truck in Prudhoe Bay for several years. I so valued his leadership and friendship. He leaves a hole that will be hard to fill. As a team and each of us individually will always carry part of Chris with us. I want the boys to know how often Chris spoke of you guys. He was a man that was respected by everyone and loved by those who were blessed to work closely with him. Follow his example. Chris's friend and rescue buddy....

Chris: A great father, great co-worker, great person, fun, personable, a GREAT friend. In a movie, Chris is the "Good" guy. One that you enjoyed watching, one that you cheered on, and one that wanted to see win. For Chris's family: you did good. You raised a great man, a great person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

Chris,
I just learned about Chris's passing. We have been on the same flights back and forth from the slope for quite a while now. Chris and I were both members of what we liked to call good brother and bad brother fire depts with mine usually being the "butt" of many friendly jokes. Chris and I would talk about runs and calls on the flight up and talk about hurrying up and getting home on flights home. Flights home were usually accompanied with Scotch. We spent many a flight looking at pictures of each others kids and comaparing parenting notes. I figured when we flew up you were playing hooky for New Years. May God be with your family and I'll keep you all in my prayers. Rest easy brother, your manning Gods firehouse now.

It has been a few days since I helped put my friend Chris to rest. This was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. Chris would say to me stay positive and don't go to negative town. Chris leaving us had made me look closer at my life and those that are around me. I will work to take the time to let them know how much I love them. I am a better person today thanks to Chris and will think of him every day. He was more than a friend and one day when I see him again I can't wait to get a hug and see that smile again. I know that he will have some team for me to join up there. Thanks.

No words can discribe the loss of Chris in all of our lives. He was a wonderful man, a loving father, the best big brother. My heart is broken for Bailey and Josh that their time with him was cut so short. For Dave and Joyce who lost their first born son, and for all of his brothers and sisters. He will never be forgotten in our home. My children will always know how terrific their uncle Chris was, he was a true hero. I find peace and comfort knowing that you are in heaven and we will see you again. We love you and miss you dearly!

I was lucky enough to spend some time with Chris both at work and off work. In every situation he was always great to be around. It always seemed he went out of his way not only to help others, but laughed while doing it. He was just incredible to be around and his laugh infectious. He spoke with such pride about his boys. I could only imagine what a great father he was as well. I’ve been praying and will continue to pray for those he left behind.

Chris was a man of Great Character, whose passion for life was obvious in all things he was involved with. Men like Chris are irreplaceable, and his passing affects all who knew and cared for him. I knew Chris as a professional co-worker, I knew him as a dedicated family man, and most of all I am happy to say I knew him as a friend. Good speed on your final journey my friend, you stood a good watch.

I have known Chris for seven years. I had Bailey in my kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classes seven years ago and this year I have Joshua and will have him in 1st grade next year also. Chris has been a very involved parent in his sons' education. He would come in for fire safety assemblies and walk on water to all in my class. Joshua glowed! He always wanted the best for his boys and took whatever steps necessary to help them meet all benchmarks to become successful in education and life. It was not uncommon to find him helping other students in our classroom when he was in our room. He will be missed, but will live on in all of our hearts as well as through the values he modeled to his boys and others.

It has been an honor to spend time with Chris both on and off work as well as the fire grounds. Chris is one of those people it was a real pleasure to be around. He was able to cheer people up and find something positive even in a bad situation. He was always there to lend a hand either at work, on the fire grounds, or helping you dig out your snow machine when you were stuck. He was a good friend and a great father. God Bless you Chris. You will be missed but never forgotten. My prayers go out to the Henderson family.

I have known Chris for the last 10 years when we worked together at Milne Point. I got to see him progress from a support tech to a contract pigging operator to a job with BP @ GPB. This is a tough one to accept. To the Henderson Family, we all share in and are sorry for your loss. Chris will be missed, but not forgotten. To Bailey & Joshua don't be dismayed, but like your father, stand strong in everything you do. He was an example of strength, integrity, honor & commitment. If you get down, take solice and look up, Chris will be there and with you in spirit. Have faith, keep on smiling, be confident and keep your heads up - he would want it that way. And yes we'll all meet up again someday-this is the eternal hope we all share. God bless you all, you're in our thoughts and prayers and will continue to be. Don't ever hesitate to call if we can help.

I met Chris around 2001 when he joined the CIC Team on the North Slope. I left Alaska a year or so later and while I didn’t know Chris for long, during that short time I was deeply impressed by his kindness and intelligence together with his hard working and positive attitude to everything that he did. He was immensely proud of his family and was always full of plans of what to do with them on his next time off. Chris & I stayed in touch and he was recently helping us resolve some of our operational problems here in Egypt. Chris was a real pleasure to work with and he will be sorely missed.
