Cindy Rehm Obituary

Longtime Kenai resident Cindy Lee Rehm, 58, died suddenly Feb. 16, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Soldotna.
Memorial services will take place in April, with the time and place to be announced.
Cindy was born Aug. 17, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, one of four children born to Les and Dee Dennis.
Cindy came to Alaska in 1965 with her family when her father was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base. She attended West High School and graduated in 1968. She enrolled in Western State College in Gunnison, Colo. Cindy received a master's degree in music in 1973.
She returned to Alaska in 1977 and was employed by Cook Inlet Realty.
Cindy married Saylor Rehm in 1980 and had her first child a year later. She returned to teaching music at Huffman Elementary School until they purchased a ReMax franchise and moved to Kenai. After they sold the franchise, Cindy returned to teaching in schools in Nikiski and Ninilchik as well as at Mountain View Elementary School in Kenai and Cook Inlet Academy in Soldotna.
She became active in the local community and joined Peninsula Grace Brethren Church.
Cindy was an outstanding musician, her family wrote. She directed the Kenai Community Band and became a member of the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra. As a member of the Dixie River Rats, she played in the Fourth of July and Progress Day parades for 12 years. An avid cross-country and downhill skier, she enjoyed winter activities in Alaska.
Her family wrote: "Cindy is remembered for her love of teaching students. Her happy, extroverted personality resulted in wonderful friendships over the years."
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Dennis, in 1993.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Saylor of Kenai; parents, Les and Dee Dennis; siblings, Les Dennis III and Era Dennis, Robert and Kelly Dennis, and Dawn Dennis; children, Danielle Rehm, and Kathleen Arledge and her husband Justice; grandchild, Orianna Arledge; stepsisters, Lynda Muise and her husband David, and Debra Wilson and her husband Charles; stepson, Scott Rehm; nieces, Bridget McArthur and her husband Gene, Claudette David and her husband Shanyne, and Chelsea Dennis; nephews, Brandon Dennis and Brian Dennis; grandniece, Janelle Burke; and grandnephews, Zakary David and Quint McArthur.

Cindy was a great person. I knew her only from her association with the Re/Max group. She was a kick and unforgettable. Cindy truely lived a great life and made a significant contribution to society.

To the family - words are not enough. God Bless you all!! Cindy will never be forgotten. She would want everyone to carry on and be the person God would want you to be and do his will. She set a high goal and status for everyone. Cindy was the sister I didn't have before marrying her brother. She is deeply missed. The fond memories will be with us always!

I got to know Cindy when she was a dental patient at Dr. Schlansker and Dr. Tauschek's office. I worked for them as a hygienist, and Cindy was always someone I enjoyed seeing at the office, because of her warm and bubbly personality. She had a nice way of making others feel special. I'm very sorry for your loss.
