Cora Mutchie

Anchorage resident Cora Edna Mutchie, 92, died peacefully March 25, 2010, at her home, Providence Horizon House, in Anchorage.

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Horizon House, 4140 Folker St., Anchorage, 99508-5323. Her ashes will be placed next to her husband in Eddyville, Neb.

Her family wrote: "God would call Grandma Cora home 92 years later to the day on March 25, 2010. Born March 25, 1918, in Lomax, Neb., Cora moved from Nebraska to Redding, Calif., with her late husband, Luke Mutchie, during the Great Depression in 1939.

She moved to Anchorage in 2002 to be with her grand- and great-grandchildren. Cora enjoyed family, friends, and the fine folks at Providence Horizon House, reading, walking, gardening and sweets. She was a blessing to all those who came to know her. She will be missed, until we meet again."

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Mutchie; and her son, Thomas Mutchie.

Cora is survived by her son, Robert Mutchie and daughter-in-law, Diane Mutchie, of Crescent City, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Mutchie of Red Bluff, Calif.; granddaughter, Charmagne Mears; and grandson-in-law, Troy Mears of Eagle River; grandson, Frank Mutchie and granddaughter-in-law, Angel Mutchie; great-grandsons, Garrett Mutchie and Andrew Lawson of Anchorage; great-grandson, Nicholaus Erwin of Sacramento, Calif.; former daughter-in-law, Bonnie Luster of Roseville, Calif.; brother, George Biram; and sister-in-law, Gerry Biram of Denver, Colo.; and sister, Della Carnahan of Lincoln, Neb.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Horizon House, Chapel Fund, at 4140 Folker St., Anchorage, 99508.
